Pitt Rivers.

If you've never been to Pitt Rivers in Oxford you are missing a treat, a great place to rummage and explore. Look out for the witch in a bottle and a shrunken head!

Wild Beasts.

Amazing catchy licks and falsetto vocals? Check. I can't get Wild Beasts newest album Two Dancers out of my head and with a UK tour starting soon, you'll soon be humming, hooting and howling along too.

Fantastic.

Fantastic Mr Fox was my favourite book as a kid, anything by Roald Dahl I was obsessed with! Next month Wes Anderson's stop motion film comes out and over at Apple you can watch a short film about the world of Roald Dahl and how they have incorporated the furniture from Dahl's home into the film. The film opens BFI's London film festival next month and is on general release soon after, I can't wait!

Moonmilk.

I'm going to go see Moonmilk, a new show by Ryan Mcginley, later on this week. It's been ages since I saw any of his work and it's all influenced by Journey To The Centre Of The Earth which makes it even better. See you there at the Alison Jacques Gallery.

Sol.

Last week I was scanning lots of japanese photobooks for the new issue of Photoworks which will be coedited by Gordon McDonald and Jason Evans. My favourite book was 'Sol' by Akiro who is a japanese photographer who went to shoot in Iceland. My favouritism might be influenced by the fact I am reading Journey To The Centre Of The Earth (which is well worth a read) but Sol and Akiro's website are well worth searching for.

Introducing Palace Players.

The first single from Mew's new album No More Stories Are Told Today I'm Sorry They Washed Away No More Stories The World I Grey I'm Tired Let's Wash Away is the first of three. If you like Snails and floating cubes that beam out pink lasers, you're in for a treat!

Home.

Lars Tunbjörk is probably Sweden's most famous Photographer. I stumbled across his book 'Home' (published by Steidl in 2003) in the library months and months ago and have had it ever since. Tunbjörk is essentially a documentary photographer but his work, especially 'Home', is very personal and intimate.

"I wanted to be strictly documentary, but it's all about me" is a quote that sums him up nicely.

'Home' is more of an exploration of his childhood surroundings than a comment or document of middle class Swedish suburbia and is much more refreshing because of it. Now all I have to do is find a copy for less than £400 and i can finally return it to the library!
