Motherland.

I've been a big fan of Simon Robert's book 'Motherland' for a very long time, so was very happy when he came to talk this past week at Farnham as part of a study day titled 'Eastern Europe: What Is It' that was organised by Maria Kapajeva. Simon is a great speaker, and as I have said before photographer's need to be more articulate, the talk veered a bit off topic to his project 'We English' but gave a great insight to his way of making work and the influences of Chris Boot.

Maria also has a solo show opening in her home country of Estonia this week and is part of New Creatives at Fairfields in Basinstoke which opens this week also. I was in the darkroom whilst she was printing her final images and helped her wrap them up for transit to Estonia, they are beautiful images, she is an extremely talented black and white printer. Go and have a look!
